Costa Rica is one of those places that seems almost too good to be true for families. Volcanoes, cloud forests, rainforest, incredible wildlife and tropical beaches are all packed into one wonderfully varied country. But for us, the magic isn't simply about seeing as much as possible or filling your days with activities. It's about getting out there and experiencing Costa Rica properly — meeting the people who call it home, understanding the landscapes you're travelling through and having the kind of experiences that stay with you long after you've come home.
You might spend a morning with a local naturalist learning how to spot wildlife that you'd never notice on your own, visit a family-run farm to discover how Costa Rica's coffee is grown and produced, or head deep into the rainforest with someone who knows every sound and track. You could learn about traditional cooking from a local family, visit a conservation project and see the work being done to protect the country's extraordinary wildlife, or explore a remote community where everyday life feels a world away from home. Of course, there are adventures too — but they are the ones that make sense for your family and for the place you're visiting. Because while zip-lining through a rainforest canopy is fun, understanding the rainforest you're flying through is what makes the experience memorable.

For many children, a safari is the moment when the natural world truly comes alive. Seeing animals in their natural habitat is far more exciting than any documentary, and the experience naturally sparks curiosity about wildlife, conservation and the environment.
